Greek práxi: which one to request
The Greek choice has two axes: the document of the ACT (the lixiarcheío's práxi) versus the one of STATUS (the dimotológio's pistopoiitikó) — and, crossing everything, the transliteration that decides whether the chain closes or stalls.
The formats
- Lixiarchikí práxi (γέννησης/γάμου/θανάτου) — the birth/marriage/death act: the document of the fact, with the annotations.
- Pistopoiitikó from the dimotológio (oikogeneiakís katástasis — the family one) — the certificate of the municipal roll: the family registered at the dímos, a standard piece of Greek processes.
- Mitroo arrénon — the male roll: for men of the 19th/20th century, the oldest registration proof there is.
- Parish certifications — baptisms and marriages pre-1931, via parish/metropolis.
Act or status?
Greek descent processes typically ask for BOTH: the práxi proves the fact; the family pistopoiitikó, the family's registration at the dímos. Ordering together saves the second round — and the Greek counter, told the purpose, assembles the set.
The transliteration as a decision
Each translated document fixes ONE Latin form — and the chain needs the bridges: the note connecting Παπαδόπουλος to all the family's Brazilian spellings. Without it, each document seems to belong to a different person. Demand the note; list the forms; the chain gives thanks.
