Sending documents safely from Greece to Brazil

3 min read · King Hands practical guide

The Greek final route asks for the right Decentralised Administration (the document's region's), a courier that doesn't depend on ELTA in August, and a careful scanner — the digitised Greek is the reference for the future transliteration.

Before shipping

Apostille at the issuing region's Αποκεντρωμένη Διοίκηση (municipal acts; courts for judicial ones) — the regional seats process in days. And the scanner: práxi and apostille in high resolution, the alphabet legible for the translator to come.

The options

  • International ELTA systiméno — registered: acceptable outside August, 3-6 weeks.
  • Courier (DHL/UPS/FedEx via Athens): 3-6 days: the standard for a process.
  • A bearer via Athens→Rome/Lisbon: the diaspora circulates; August fills the flights and empties the counters.

The package

Rigid envelope, inner plastic, full Brazilian address with CEP and country code, declaration “προσωπικά έγγραφα / personal documents, no commercial value”.

If it goes missing

The práxi is reissued (the lixiarcheío keeps it), the apostille is redone — with the Greek calendar in between. Duplicate copies and the digital copy are the insurance; the repeated Greek translation page, the avoidable pain.

Frequently asked questions

Greek translation in Brazil: available?+

Rare — few sworn translators, with the Hellenic community concentrating them. The transliteration explained in a note is an essential part of the service: demand it in the quote.

Which Decentralised Administration is mine?+

The issuing agency's region's — Attica for Athens, Macedonia-Thrace for the north, and so on. The lixiarcheío points to the seat when in doubt.
