Where the record lives
The Colombian registro civil de nacimiento is drawn up at the place's notaría or registraduría — and the copia auténtica is requested WHERE it was drawn up (the indicativo serial and the NUIP identify it). The Registraduría Nacional centralises indexes and issues certifications; the notarías keep their tomes. Knowing the notaría of origin (old documents cite it) is half the way.

The Cancillería operates a 100% online apostille: the document (with the issuer's digital signature or scanned per the type's flow) goes up on the portal, the payment is electronic (PSE/card), and the apostilla comes out as a PDF with verification — in days, without presence. The Colombian eras
