How to collect a document already issued in Belgium
Belgium delivers by post and, increasingly, by PDF — Belgian in-person collection is nearly a relic. When it exists, the instrument is bilingual: procuration in the south, volmacht in the north, the same plain paper as always.
The delivery standards
- A PDF from the central bank (for the eligible) and extracts by e-mail in digital flows — the new standard.
- bpost to the stated address — the classic standard, including internationally.
- The commune's counter: for urgencies and for whoever is there — municipal hours (strong mornings, short afternoons, dedicated Wednesdays).
For another: the procuration/volmacht
A plain letter in the commune's language: who authorises, who collects, what, date, signature, document copies. Belgian pragmatism accepts it; bigger acts ask for formality — the commune says so.
The language check
Check the extract IN the language it came out — and if the proceeding requires another of the Belgian languages or the multilingual, solve it on the spot: the reissuance in the right format costs minutes at the counter and weeks from Brazil.

Does the commune ship straight to Brazil?+
Many do — and the digital ones send a PDF. For paper with a physical apostille, the Belgian address → SPF → courier design remains the insurance.
Does the volmacht need a notary?+
To collect, no — plain paper with copies. Belgian rigour is discreet like everything in the country.
