How to order a certificate at a Dutch gemeente
The Dutch gemeente is a counter without drama: an online form, a fixed fee (the leges), a reply in days. Orders from abroad enter by e-mail or form with identification — and English, here, is not a courtesy: it is infrastructure.
The order
On the event's gemeente site, look for 'afschrift burgerlijke stand' — the form asks for the act's details, your connection, the purpose and identification. Without DigiD (the national login), the path is the non-residents form or an e-mail to the burgerzaken counter. The leges (the fixed municipal fee, ~€15-17 nationally) are paid online or by transfer.
The data kit
- The full name with the prefixes in place (Jan van der Berg — the 'van der' matters).
- Date and place of the event: the current gemeente (Dutch municipal mergers are constant — the national site points to the successor).
- The parents' names; the connection and the purpose.
- The format: the afschrift (full), the uittreksel (extract) or the internationaal (CIEC).
Timelines and the delivery
