Shipping documents safely from Germany to Brazil
The German document cost a written request, an international payment and weeks of waiting — the final crossing cannot be the weak link. Three acts in the right order: apostille (in the right Land!), copy, track.
Before shipping: the Land's apostille
The German catch: the apostille is neither federal nor municipal — it belongs to the Land (state), and the competent authority varies by state AND by document type (Regierungspräsidium, court, state ministry). The issuing Standesamt knows which; ask in the request itself. And digitise everything — document and apostille — before the envelope.

- A plain Brief — no, for originals.
- Einschreiben International (Deutsche Post) — registered, trackable to the border and beyond (variable): the acceptable minimum, 2-5 weeks.
- DHL Express/UPS/FedEx — days, end-to-end tracking, insurance: the standard for proceeding documents (and DHL is the German home team).
- A bearer on a Frankfurt/Munich→Brazil flight — when one exists, unbeatable.
The package
A rigid envelope, plastic protection, the complete destination address with postal code and phone with country code, the declaration “persönliche Dokumente, ohne Handelswert”. Documents pay no tax on entry; the correct declaration and a reachable sender avoid holds and returns.
If it goes missing
The record remains at the Standesamt (or archive): a new copy + a new apostille rebuild it — with the real cost on the calendar: a new international payment, a new wait. It is the corridor where prevention (multiple copies at the first issuance, a digital copy, insured courier) pays off the most.
