The apostille of civil-status documents comes from the issuing Land's authority — the Standesamt indicates your case's exact counter. A Viennese document is solved in Vienna; from the Länder, at the state capital. And digitise everything before the envelope, apostille included.

- An ordinary Brief — no, for originals.
- Einschreiben international (Österreichische Post) — registered: the acceptable minimum, 2-4 weeks.
- Courier (DHL/UPS/FedEx): 3-5 days, full tracking: the standard for proceedings.
- A bearer via Frankfurt/Lisbon: the diaspora circulates; when someone crosses, use it.
The package
A rigid envelope, inner plastic, the complete Brazilian address with postal code and phone with country code, the declaration “persönliche Dokumente, ohne Handelswert”. Documents pay no tax on entry.
If it goes missing
A new Urkunde from any Standesamt (the central register in our favour again) + a new apostille — quick replacement for modern acts. Parish certifications repeat the archive's rhythm: duplicate copies and the digital copy are worth gold on the old pieces.
