Peruvian acta: which one to request
The Peruvian choice follows the migration: the RENIEC's copia certificada when the act went up to the system; the municipal one when not; the parish one when Peru was still a viceroyalty. The district is the key that opens the three doors.
The formats
- RENIEC copia certificada — the modern standard: digital or physical, verifiable.
- Municipal copia certificada — from the local book: handwritten/transcribed with the municipality's civil registry seals.
- Parish partida — baptisms/marriages of the ecclesiastical era, certified by the church/archbishopric.
The practical rule
Test the RENIEC first (minutes); the empty result points to the municipality; the pre-civil-registry points to the parish. For processes: the certified one with seals + apostilla — and on the handwritten ones, the most legible version the book gives.
The typical package
The copia certificada from the right source + MRE apostilla + the translation page. District and surnames checked; duplicate copies of the municipal ones (the expedition doesn't repeat for free); and the spelling note on the colonial ones.
