How to collect a document already issued in Switzerland
Switzerland delivers by post with the flag's reliability — in-person collection is a rare exception. The typical Swiss mission doesn't collect: it receives, apostilles at the canton and dispatches.
The postal standard
Swiss Post delivers the Auszug to the stated address — including internationally, with tracking on the registered services. The efficient design: delivery to a Swiss address (or the executor's) → the cantonal apostille → courier to Brazil. One crossing, as always.
When someone collects
- Urgencies with an appointment at the Zivilstandsamt.
- Archive sets (a Familienregister copied page by page).
- For another: a written Vollmacht/procuration in the canton's language + document copies — the Germanic/francophone standard per the region.
The trilingual check
Check the document in the language it came in: French accents, German umlauts, the Heimatort's spelling. In a four-language country, the same act may have come out differently in different cantons — the document chain is grateful for the immediate check.

The apostille belongs to the ISSUING canton's chancellery — Geneva doesn't apostille a Bern document. The right cantonal leg, in the same cycle as the collection/receipt, closes the corridor in days.
