Korean certificate: which one to request
The Korean choice is combinatorial: the five certificates answer different questions, and processes ask for SETS — typically the basic + family relations of the holder, and the 제적등본 climbing the generations. And there is the detail of the detail level: the 상세 (detailed) version versus the summary one.
The typical sets
- Descent chain: 기본 + 가족관계 of each living generation + 제적등본 of the earlier ones — the complete ladder.
- Marital status for marrying/processes: 혼인관계 (+ basic).
- Cases with adoption: the specific certificates, with the access protections.
상세 vs summary
The certificates come out in the general version (current data) or the detailed one (상세 — with the history: changes, corrections, annotated deaths). Processes and chains ask for the DETAILED one — the Korean difference between the summary and the full tenor. Order 상세 by default in the corridor.
Hanja and romanisation
The hangul governs; the hanja disambiguates (two 이 can be distinct clans); the romanisation connects to Brazil. The serious package: certificates with hanja when available + translation with a romanisation note + the 본관 noted for the clan searches.
The typical package for use in Brazil
The right set in 상세 + apostille (e- when accepted) + the annotated Korean page. Duplicate copies cost cents — order generously, always.
Frequently asked questions
Does the 제적등본 show the whole family?+
It shows the clan register as it was — the head, the members, the events: generations in one piece. It is the bridge document for everything before 2008.
Do adoptions appear on the common certificates?+
The system protects: the adoption certificates are set apart with restricted access, and the common 상세 reveals per the rules. Sensitive cases ask for specific guidance — the consulate directs.
